A Student of Life | London

As a child who loved school with all of my heart + soul, I am filled with joy to understand that my education isn’t over. That I am now, have been, and will always be, enrolled in the school of life.
.
Continuing my growth as a person. Broadening my knowledge of Other. Leaning into my Curiosity. Raising my hand to say, “I don’t know” or asking the “stupid” question (there’s no such thing). Putting myself in uncomfortable situations when all I want is to recoil. It’s finding ways to connect with new + different people. It’s standing in My Truth even when all I want to do is to conform so that I “fit in” or I’m “likable” or “part of some group”. It’s learning how to share. Learning how to listen. Learning how to take turns. It’s giving personal space. It’s reaching out my hand when someone is in need. It’s knowing better than to cheat. Knowing better than to gossip. Knowing better than to hurt someone’s feelings in order to feel more important. It’s recognizing the importance of studying; how to take notes, prioritize, stay organized, balance work, sports + social life. It’s knowing the importance of handing in assignments on time. Its understanding consequences. It’s sacrificing leisure time to get a better grade. It’s being kind. It’s being inclusive. Its holding hands + giving hugs. It’s knowing how to work TOGETHER. It’s community! Its friendship!
.
It’s ALL of those things. All of the things we’ve somehow forgotten once we’ve become adults. Once we’ve conformed. Once we’ve decided that we need more than our classmates in order to matter, to succeed, or to have a “better” life. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to forget about all the good I learned in school. That girl was looking to be a better PERSON.
.
Im choosing to remain a student. What about you? And how did you feel/think/remember school?
